Ellen Carillo is an Associate Professor of English and the Writing Coordinator for the University of Connecticut Waterbury Campus. She earned her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and has published extensively on the role of reading in undergraduate education and how teachers can help demystify the college-level reading process. Her latest book Teaching Readers in Post-Truth America(Utah State UP) was just released, and her practical guide A Writer’s Guide to Mindful Reading reading is available via the open-source WAC Clearinghouse. Dr. Carillo is also a co-founder of the The Role of Reading in Composition Studies Special Interest Group within the Conference of Composition and Communication. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in writing, composition studies, and literature.
